2/28/06 -- Happy Fat Tuesday . . . or is it really happy yet?  I was awake this morning at 3am, as I have been lately, feeling those nesting instincts coming on strongly, and I was watching the "coverage" of the Mardi Gras celebration. What I would like to ask is, what organization is actually helping to rebuild New Orleans?  The reporters were interviewing residents, who say there are volunteers there helping out, but that no one has any resources to buy the nails, drywall, etc.  Does anyone know if any legitimate organization is down there accepting donations?

On a lighter note, I want to thank a heap of people who have bought my personalized photographs to help support the finishing of Diamonds and Guns. This gang are in addition to all the others who have been supportive this past year, but quite a handful of you are 3 or 4 time repeaters. WOW.

So thanks to ....

Michelle, Christa, Desiree, Cathy "Sweat", Wendy, Tracy 'TX", Sandra
and Cole, Louise, Mary, Imke, Pauline, Deidre, Nicole, Jeannette, Lara, Marc, Patricia, Lori, Earl, Catharine, Ruth, Jeanne, Heather, Kim and Ren, Debbie, Norma, Veronica, Julia, Karen, Donna, and Rosa!!!!!!

Now, I wish I could say that I was finished, but that is NOT the case.
I have had to let Diamonds again take its own course, and I won't be able to pick it up again until May, when my music will be ready.  Fortunately, Jo Lo Duca is making some funky, retro music for me to go along with the film, but his schedule is so full, the man is in great demand.  He is worth waiting for to have his talents on the film, and in the meantime I have been playing with graphic design ideas to make the titles look cool.  It is all well worth the effort!

The little bundle in the oven is still cooking.  I am only too ready to
see her, but again, life unfolds in its own time.

So until then . . . goodnight.  Oh wait, it is only 11am right now.
See ya,
renee

1/24/06 -- Greetings from baby central!  It is funny how my mind is working now.  I am either re-reading parts I have already memorized from "What To Expect When You're Expecting," or I am looking at paperwork from Screen Actors Guild agreements from Diamonds and Guns, and working on spotting cues for extra dialogue replacement for the film.  It is pretty wacky.  I can't begin to tell you how thankful I am for all the generous support you have been giving me with Diamonds.  This epic journey has really been a collaboration in so many ways . . . with all of you included!  It is finishing at breakneck speed now, so you will see me on ebay pretty solidly over the next feew weeks.  (I threatened my cat, Kiaora, that if she doesn't stop drooling on my computer, I would be putting her up for bid next!  She just jumped down.)  So, I am close to finishing, then on towards the labor room!  Yeah!  I think . . . ?

Here is the translation from the little box I picked up in the street markets in Tel Aviv that I talked about and showed you at the convention.  Again, I only picked it up because I thought the picture on top was sweet and it reminded me of my being with Miles.  The clasp came apart when I lifted it up and it opened itself.  Very coincidental, isn't it?!!!

The Psalm of Lifting:
Carry my eyes into the mountains,
From there will rise my help,
My nation helper, God,
Maker of Sky and Earth.
He will not give to spare.
Your feet will never numb,
Your guardian will not nap or sleep,
Keeper of Israel, God keeper.
He will be your shadow and your right hand,
The sun days will not pass by,
And he will rise in the night.
God will protect you from harm and guard your soul.
God will guard you with your delivery from the day you come until the end of the world.

That is it!  Pretty amazing to me!  Not to mention I had only discovered I was pregnant two days before and any thoughts of delivery were FAR beyond my comprehension at the time!  So enjoy . . .

Again, you are all amazing too.
thanks,
renee

11/25 -- Sounds like everyone had a blast watching Lucy at the Factory.  I am heading to my other home, New Zealand, to regroup and slow down a little.  My plan is to paint some new pieces, and rest before we hit into the final phases of "Diamonds and Guns."  Still chipping away at it.

Things have changed, yet again, and I will not be filming a piece for this project.  We are going to make our final cut with the material we have, so I will not be directing anything for it.  Still aiming to be finished in February next year!

Part of my going to NZ is to see what project I really want to nurture next, whether it be for my growth as an actor, or as a director.  I still can't decide what should come first, the short film about the father/son where I am directing, or a piece about the war which I will be acting in.  I usually find it will all work itself out, but slowing down enough to work on both is a real sense of excitment for me.

Again, I want to thank everyone who is actively participating in how fast all of this evolves in their support of my creative fundraising!

Just some of the gang from BardCon who were there and very generously buying photographs of me are Karen, Lori, Tammin, BigT, Joob, Carol, Kristen, Di, KG, Lynn, Tammy, Cion, Sandi, Jenny, Marianne, Meryll, Caroline, Chris, Carolyn, Dee, Misssssy, Sue, Jeannie, Diana, Nancy, Marilyn, Vicki, Claudia, Kim, Zero, Denise, Beth and Carolyn, Ross, Cion, Deidre, Wendy, Judy, Janna, Barbie, Natasha, Linda, Dawn, Karan, Rosa, Vivia, Sherry, Kathleen, PHIL/OZ and Gail.

Thanks again to Denise, and Carol, and Trish, and Linda, and Missy for such a fun day!

And I also want to thank everyone who has been online with the ebay auctions!  This is really helping to get closer to the end of the film, so thanks to Pauline, Vaclav, Nicole, Ren and her best mate, Valerie, Melissa, Rhana, Sharon and Caroline, John, Wendy, Amy, Claudia, Christa again & again & again, Heather, Ellen, Nora, Carol, Donna, Tricia, Ann, Ekaterina, Earl, Catherine, Aleida, Kimberely, Rosie, Sandra, Veronica, Brenda, PHIL/OZ and Deidre.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the Creation Con. in January.  I will read at least one of the war monologues to you all so you can see where I am going with it.  Should be entertaining at least!

YOU ALL ROCK!
Renee

10/27 -- Hi everybody!

I wanted to share some of my memories from BardCon with you....  It was a “first” for me in so many ways.  I have never chosen to fly INTO a hurricane before, but I was so thrilled I did, because I was able to casually hang out with a great group of women, from the incredibly professional and organized ladies who put the whole thing together, to the new faces I have never seen in the past ten years of being involved with Xena, to the relaxed, fun-loving atmosphere of the Bards rotating around and sharing their accomplishments with each other.  And I learned what B&D is now....  HA!  I have also never worn a bondage collar before....well, hmmmmm, maybe I did once on Xena, just playing around off set.  Still, I had a great time.  I appreciate everyone who bought a photograph from me to help me gather funds for finishing “Diamonds and Guns”.  I have enough now to start on the sound editorial work, but you will see me on ebay soon with more things to offer to help me to get the rest of the budget.  This filmmaking gig is EXPENSIVE!  When I finally finish, I feel like this film will be my most collegiate feeling film in hopefully a career of better run productions, but I am thankful since this route has been so useful to me instead of going to a film school and theorizing all the things that could go wrong.  Nothing like just getting out there and taking risks!  I keep meeting amazing people along the way, and I know more than whether the film is embraced by everyone or not, the gratitude I have for all who have and are still putting their faith in me keeps me going when the exhaustion sets in!  It is ironic that this particular film, which is a romantic comedy, has only had one frustrating setback after another, and it is hard to see the whole experience as a “comedy” for sure.  I see us finishing still by early next year, and I know when you see it, you will share some laughs with us, at least on screen.  Off screen I will be sharing as much of the behind-the-scenes as I can so you too can get a feel for what it was like for all of us!  So, stay tuned... ;)
Renee

10/9 -- Hello those attending Bardcon.  Look at the "Xena photographic copy from an oil painting by Renee O'Connor" to see what I will be bringing with me.  In Orlando I will have only 8 x 13 in. photographs with me for sale.  More to come as I look at more samples of other stuff I want to bring.

10/1 --  Hi everybody!

I wanted to thank EVERYBODY who participated in the ebay auction.  I had this fixed idea of how much I wanted to donate to the Katrina relief charities, and with combining all the proceeds from all the auctions, including the signed photos, I will have met my wish list.  This is so great, because it will help so many people.  I know it is not enough to make so many lives feel some normalcy again, but the good spirit will go far....I always believe that.

So now I am putting up signed photos on ebay, and this is a chance for me to personalize some photos without getting too overwhelmed with it all (I am a mom too for a very spirited boy).  This is will go towards our finishing funds for our film, (I wanted the charity to come first).  When I eventually get my shopping cart up & running, it will have signed photos, but I will not be able to personalize them.

Thanks again for all the support.  I am looking forward to attending Bardcon and playing with some chosen material on the stage.  Should be fun!
Renee
